The Trend: Domestic Thrillers
Names to Remember: 19 Top Authors
Reader Type: Serial Readers

We know you love thrillers. They're action packed with intrigue at every turn of the page. They're not shying away from intense stories all circling around chaos to psych you out. There's one specific sub-genre of thrillers that is trending now and catching on quickly to bring even more jaw-dropping plot twists, dominating conniving villains and mystic. Domestic Thrillers.

Domestic thrillers usually need to come with a trigger warning. So let this be that trigger warning before reading on. They are not for everyone. That hasn't held back the masses though from reading and re-reading these popular novels. Top authors have really found their niche writing these specific plot lines and successfully created stories that leave us at the edge of our seat.

Before we release the list of the most popular current domestic thrillers and their authors, we need to review what differentiates a domestic thriller from other thrillers.

what is a domestic thriller?

A domestic thriller might not be as action-packed and crime-solving as a police procedural or law enforcement thriller, but it doesn't lack in psychological twists and turns. There is usually less characters and more focus on the home front with criminal or sometimes evil, conniving acts where the reader is driven to find a sane solution with hopes of a happy ending.

Domestic thrillers usually center around limited close family or friends and what is happening behind closed doors. This could include a dysfunctional family, domestic abuse, characters with hidden identities or agendas, etc. Originally this style started being written with noir style but has transitioned out to other formats to include psychological thrillers, new adult, cat and mouse romance, or mystery solving books.

Have you read a domestic thriller yet? Check the list below to see if a book you've read is on the list. If there is, view other options that will surely pique your interest as well as new books released by some of the new trending domestic thriller authors.
