what is the booker prize?

The Booker Prize (formerly known as the Man Booker Prize) is a major literary award that started in 1969. Every year, the award recognizes written works published in the UK or Ireland that are written in the English language. The winning author receives a prize of £50,000 ($63,460) as well as all the readership the award promises.

From 2016 onwards, the Booker Prize also considers fiction for translation. If a book from this category wins, both the winning author and translator receive the prize money.
